I still haven’t seen Once Upon a Time in Hollywood , and the longer I wait, the less interested I am in the film. I’m sure this will sound baffling to many, and others will say it’s because I’m a woman and/or too old. Of course, I’m younger than Tarantino, and, woman or not, I loved True Romance , which he wrote, and Pulp Fiction , and the Kill Bill films when they came out. What I’ve noticed lately is that as I age and evolve, a number of films I loved or at least liked, I have a hard time with now. Woody Allen was my true north for so much of my earlier years, yet I find it harder to watch his films now, unable to shake off the personal issues surrounding him.
