Right now many people are wondering who the anonymous op-ed writer is. I was more interested in the timing of the article. After all, we are approaching the midterm elections. It just seems far too coincidental that this article comes out a few months before the elections, at a time when establishment Republicans like James Comey are urging voters to elect Democrats in order to save the country. I can’t believe this article is a coincidence. In my view, The New York Times got played. The article wasn’t meant to ease the concerns of Democrats or independents by letting them know that “wiser” people in the White House were keeping the President from really going off the rails. No, this article was all about keeping this administration from losing what was left of its establishment voters. How The Times didn’t see this I just don’t understand.
